NIOA Australia has soared back into the list of the country’s top defence contractors, ranking among multinational heavyweights.
Australian Defence Magazine (ADM) has released its Top Defence Contractors 2022, ADM's Top 40 Defence Contractors 2022 - Australian Defence Magazine and we’re back in the Top 40 at No. 29. We’ve also clawed our way into second place in both Top 20 SME and Top 20 Australia-New Zealand SME categories while reaching single figures (ranked ninth) for female workforce participation (44 per cent) in the overall Top 40 Defence Contractors group.
The magazine noted that 2021-2022 was a record year for Australia’s defence industry, with a total turnover of $15.86 billion – an 18 per cent increase on the previous financial year.
ADM publisher Ewen Levick said the list was widely respected as a benchmark for the Australian defence industry.
“For over 20 years ADM has gathered this important data which is used by government, defence, and industry both locally and internationally. Once again, congratulations to NIOA on your inclusion in the 2022 rankings,” he said.
NIOA Australia-New Zealand CEO Ben James welcomed the rankings, noting that the momentum created over the past 12 months set the defence business up for another strong period.
“The LAND 159 Lethality Systems Program remains critical to our partnership with the Commonwealth as we commence the delivery of Tranche 1 weapon systems in 2023,” he said. “Similarly, we expect the Defence Strategic Review (DSR) to deliver some key recommendations for the ADF’s munitions base and our tenancy at the Benalla munitions facility is likely to be a key feature of generating greater supply chain surety and sovereign munitions manufacturing capability.”
